MASCHINELL 12 National Level Technical Symposium On 10th August 2012 by Mechanical Engineering in Tagore Engineering College, Rathinamangalam

Tune your heads, fuel the ideas and explore your hidden talents at MASCHINELL`12, a National Level Technical Symposium organized by the Association of Mechanical Engineers (AME) on behalf of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tagore Engineering College on the 10th of August, 2012 at the college campus.


EVENTS
TECHNICAL EVENTS:
1. Paper Presentations:

Abstract should not exceed 250 words. It should be submitted on or before 31ST July 2012
and mailed to maschinell12@gmail.com.All abstract will be scrutinized by the
scientific panel. Abstract selected will be informed to the presenters by 3rd
August 2012.Presentation material should be in power point presentation(PPT).
Duration for paper presentation is maximum 10 minutes. There will be Q&A
segment. The selection committee will select the paper for presentation and
judge’s decision will be final for the award of prize.
Ø  Each slide maximum number of lines: 8 – 10.

Ø  Lines well spaced and legible to audience(Font
size min:28)

Ø  Any audio support needed should be informed
before for feasibility

2.      Water Rocketry:

All competitors should make their water rockets and launch them at the designated places.Materials
for making water rocket will not be provided by organizing team. Each
competitor should make 2 rockets, one as the main rocket and the other as a back-up.
The competitors are encouraged to be creative in designing nose cones and fins
of their water rockets.

Each competitor will be given opportunities to conduct 2 launches. The rank
placement will be based on the distance from the launch point to the point the
rocket hit. If the impact point is outside the dedicated zone, no point will be
awarded. A team which travels more distance after two launches will be declared
the winner of the Launch Competition.

3.      Nitro Race

First of all the cars
would be examined by our team and if any found to be unsuitable for race would
be disqualified.

Preliminary Round
In Preliminary round all the teams can have trails for getting an idea of the
race track. The time will be noted by our organizing team which may be used if
there is a tie between two teams in the next round.

Quarter Finals
In Quarter final round, all teams raced will have TIME-TRAIL, the top 4 teams would
be selected for the Semi-final.. (No.Of.teams may vary, if there is many teams)
(the track challenges may be varied at this level)

Semi Finals
In Semi final round, 4 teams qualified from the quarter final would be raced in
2 segments( 2 in each) and from this the top 2 teams would qualify for the
final round.

Finals
In Final round, the top 2 teams would race together and from this the person
who finishes the required laps in least time would be the winner.

General Event Rules:

Ø    Total No.of.participants in a team should not exceed 5 members, a team may comprise of students from different institutions.

Ø  Once the Race starts, only the volunteers have the rights to re-position the car, none of the team members should enter the track

Ø  The Coordinators reserve the right to dis-qualify any team indulged in mis-behaviour.

Engine:

Ø  Only nitro engine operated vehicles are allowed

Ø  Maximum displacement of the engine should not exceed 4.5cc.

Ø  Nitro % in the fuel used should not exceed 20%.


About Cars:

Ø  Ready-To-Run kits are accepted .

Ø  If the kit is found unsafe on the track, the co-ordinator
has the right to disqualify the team.

Ø  Since the track has Jumps and bumps through-out ,only
Off-Road RC Nitro cars can race.


Transmitter:

Ø  Both pistol type and stick type transmitters are allowed.

Ø  At the Venue, The Teams Should submit their Radio Frequency
at the Registration desk.

Ø  All the teams participating in the race expected to have 2
crystal transmitters, in case of frequency clash the team have to change their
crystals to a different frequency.

Ø  No kit will be provided by the organizers.

Ø  The power socket shall be provided by us if required.

4.      Technical Quiz

 3 participants in a team.Registered teams will appear for the
first round and will be given time of 30 minutes to solve 45 questions. After
evaluation, 10 teams will be selected for the final round. In the Final round,
most of the topics under mechanical engineering will be covered and the team
with the highest score will be awarded.If tie – additional rapid fire round
will be conducted for the tie teams.
 5.     CAD Modelling

Registered teams will appear for the
first round and will be given time of 30 minutes to solve 30 questions
(questions will be from basic engineering drawing and modelling software).
After evaluation, 15 teams will be selected for the final round. In the Final
round, 2D Diagram of an object will be given to the participants. Within the
given time the participants should finish the model in 3D by using Solid Works.
6.     Other Events

For other
events (i.e) Dar-To-Do, Science Corner (General Quiz), Gaming, Ad-Zap and
Photography the rules will be explained on spot.

Two Days Workshop on “RECENT TRENDS IN MANUFACTURING PROCESSES”
7th & 8th of August 2012

The workshop deals with the recent developments in
manufacturing processes which is developing through constant research and
industrial demands. the field of manufacturing has developed a lot with a help
of recent manufacturing techniques, so it is neccesary that everyone in the
mechanical engineering needs to know about it, for which this woul be great
tool.

The course aims in bringing in knowledge from all platforms, so that the
participants would know about the processes of manufacturing in various perspectives.


ELIGIBILITY
The workshop is open for UG/PG graduates, Faculty members of AICTE approved
Engineering colleges and practicing Engineers specialized in Mechanical,
Metallurgical and Manufacturing Engineering domains.  All registered
participants will be provided with kits and course materials.

Course Fee:


UG/PG students    : Rs.500
Academic Faculty    : Rs.500
Research scholars    : Rs.500
Industry persons    : Rs.1000

The payment should be made through Demand Draft from a nationalized bank.
