Admission in Diploma Courses 

There are at present 464 Polytechnics in our State offering Diploma courses, Post Diploma courses and Certificate courses on various branches of studies in Engineering and Technology. Ten Institutes of Catering Technology and Hotel Management offering 3 year Diploma courses are also affiliated to this Directorate. The candidates who complete the Xth Standard are eligible for admission for Polytechnic Colleges and XIIth Standard for Catering Institutions. Before the admission process is started, the required qualifications such as Age, Marks required, and Number of Seats in the various categories etc. are published in the leading dailies so that students can decide their choice of polytechnic, course etc. well in advance.


Admission in Post Diploma Courses 

Some Government and Government Aided Polytechnics offer Post Diploma courses in various branches of Engineering. Candidates who possess Diploma can apply for Post Diploma courses in respective / connected branches. There is no age limit for applying for admission to the above programme.

Lateral Entry into Diploma Courses 

HSC / 10 th std with 2 years ITI students can directly join the second year of the three year Diploma programme under Lateral Entry System in all Polytechnics. Their intake is restricted to 20% of the sanctioned intake of the First year Diploma courses.
