CATE English(H) Test Results on June 25,2012 | Common Aptitude Test for English - Delhi University entrance exam for the English (Honours) | CATE 2012
As many as 12,200 candidates appeared for Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE) — the Delhi University entrance exam for the English (Honours) course. The results will be declared on June 25, said Dr Tapan Basu, Coordinator of CATE 2012.
The format for the CATE 2012 was the same as that of the previous year. Students were given two hours to answer the paper, as compared to one and a half hours last year.
“This year, the duration of the exam was extended to two hours from one and a half hours. We expected the students to give an hour each to the two sections. Papers for both the sections, however, were distributed and collected together,” said Dr Basu.
The paper had two sections — one with objective questions and the other with subjective questions — to test students’ grammar, vocabulary and writing skills.
Aditi, a counsellor at a CATE coaching institute, said, “The format of the paper was the same as last year’s CATE and my students were quite happy after taking the exam.”
Shreya Khurana, from Modern School, Barakhamba Road said, “I am quite satisfied with the paper. The lack of negative marking is a good thing.”
Sukriti Bajpai, a student from Lucknow, was not happy with her performance in the second section. “My answers in the second section are a little vague. I don’t know if that is what the examiners want,” she said.
Sweccha Tiwari, who lives near Wazirabad, went to the Rajinder Nagar Centre for the exam.
“My paper was not too good. I don’t think I got many answers correct in the first section,” she said.
Twenty-one colleges will be admitting students through CATE this year. About 13,050 students had applied for the exam, of which 1,295 were under the OBC quota.
